Account and sign-in
How do I sign in to Function?
Function uses Sign in with Apple as the sign-in method. On the login screen, tap Sign in with Apple and continue with your Apple ID. There is no separate email/password login.
What happens if I use Hide My Email?
If you choose Apple’s Hide My Email option, Apple may provide Function with a private relay address instead of your personal email. Continue signing in with the same Apple ID so your Function account stays connected. Support replies go to the email associated with your Apple ID / relay address.
How do I edit my profile?
Open the Profile tab, tap the gear icon to open Settings, then tap Edit Profile. You can update your photo, name, username, bio, and related profile details, then save your changes.
How do I delete my Function account?
Open Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Confirm the prompts (including typing DELETE) and complete Sign in with Apple when asked to verify. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. See Account and Data for more detail.
Functions and attendance
How do I RSVP to a Function?
When a host has enabled RSVP, open the Function and choose your response: Yes (going), Maybe (interested), or No (not going). Choosing Yes adds you to the attendee list when attendance is available for that Function.
Why does my request require host approval?
Some Functions use Request to Join instead of instant join. In those cases, RSVP Yes / Request to Join sends a request to the host. You become an attendee only after the host approves. You’ll see a pending state until the host responds.
How do I change or cancel my RSVP?
Reopen the RSVP options on the Function and choose a different status, or select Remove response to clear your RSVP. If you are already attending and are not the host, you can also Leave the Function, which removes you from the attendee list and may remove access to chat and gallery.
How do I create, edit, or cancel a Function?
Create a Function from the Functions feed using the create flow, then tap Create. Hosts and co-hosts can open Function Details → Settings to Edit details, Cancel Function (attendees and media remain, but nobody can join), or Delete Function (permanent).
Who can see the attendee roster?
Hosts choose who can view the roster: Public, Attendees (default), or Hosts & co-hosts only. Hosts and co-hosts can always view the roster for Functions they manage.
Photos and galleries
Who can see a Function’s photo gallery?
Function galleries are available to attendees (including the host). If you are not on the attendee list, you will not have gallery access.
Who can upload photos?
Attendees can upload while the gallery is open. Galleries typically unlock when the Function starts and accept uploads until a short window after it ends. Before the start, the gallery may be locked; afterward, uploads may close while existing photos remain viewable to attendees.
How do I remove a photo I uploaded?
In the gallery, select or long-press the media and choose Delete. You can delete media you uploaded. Hosts and co-hosts can also remove media from the Function gallery.
How do I add an eligible Function photo to my profile?
Open a photo in the Function gallery viewer and use Add To → Feature on Profile. You need gallery access for that Function (you attended / have attendee access). Profile Function photos come from Functions you can access as an attendee—not from Functions you did not attend.
Why can’t I access a gallery?
Common reasons include:
- You are not an attendee of the Function.
- You left the Function and lost attendee access.
- The Function has not started yet (gallery may be locked for uploads).
- The upload window has closed (existing photos may still be viewable to attendees).
Groups and messages
How do I join or leave a group?
Group membership is invitation-based. Accept a group invitation from Activity or Messages to join. To leave, open the group’s info screen and choose Leave Group. Leaving removes access to the group chat and shared content. Following a public group is not the same as becoming a member.
How do group invitations work?
Members with invite permission can open Group Info → Invite member and send an invitation. Invitees can accept or decline from Activity, a direct message invite card, or chat.
How do I manage conversations?
Open the Messages hub to switch between Groups and Direct Messages, start a new DM, and open existing threads. From a DM, you can view the other person’s profile.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
Check the following:
- iOS Settings → Notifications → Function — allow alerts, badges, and sounds.
- Focus / Do Not Disturb modes that may silence notifications.
- That you are signed in to Function on this device.
- In-app Activity (Profile toolbar) for invites, requests, and Function updates.
Safety and reporting
How do I report a user or content?
You can report from several places in the app:
- User: open their profile → ⋯ → Report User
- Group: group profile → ⋯ → Report Group
- Function: feed ⋯ → Report, or Function Settings → Safety → Report
- Photo/video: full-screen gallery viewer → Report
- Comment: comment menu → Report
For product bugs (not community reports), use Profile → Settings → Report a Bug.
What can I report?
You can report users, groups, Functions, gallery media, and comments that appear harmful, abusive, illegal, spammy, or otherwise against Function’s community standards. See our Terms of Service for community standards.
What happens after I submit a report?
Your report is submitted for review. You’ll see a confirmation in the app. Function’s team reviews reports to help keep the community safe. You may not receive a detailed case update for every report.
What should I do in an emergency?
Function does not provide emergency services. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
Account and Data
To delete your Function account from inside the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Confirm the deletion prompts and complete Sign in with Apple when asked. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Associated account and personal data are deleted according to Function’s Privacy Policy. Shared posts, chats, and past Functions you participated in may remain visible to others with your name shown as “Deleted User,” as described in the in-app deletion confirmation.
If you cannot access your account and need help with deletion or privacy requests, email hello@function.app from an address we can use to verify your request, and include your Function username if you have one.
Full details: Privacy Policy.
